I've looked through the docs (I think I have!) and the forum - but can't find any reference to being able to expand collapsed messages automatically, or select all (or some) and then expand all collapsed messages/fields/etc underneath,

This is for the purpose of cut and paste to documentation or exporting to a text log file.

any suggestions?
